Today we officially announced that a new version of the Blackwing pencil will be introduced next month! The “Blackwing Pearl” will have a lustrous white finish and a “balanced and smooth” performance that falls in the middle of the two existing Palomino Blackwing pencils. We hope it appeals to not only those dealers and consumers who have been asking for a white version, but to those who prefer something a little firmer than the Palomino Blackwing yet softer than the 602.
I’m sure some of you may be wondering if more colors and grades are on the horizon. Though we’ll never close the door on anything that could help us grow our brand and get quality tools into as many hands as possible, at this point we feel like the Blackwing line of pencils provides ample options both in terms of performance and appearance. For those hoping we extend the line even further, we encourage you to instead check out our original Palomino graded range of graphite pencils or our Imagine Series pencils that feature our Palomino HB lead in ten different lacquer colors.
We realize that some traditionalists probably think three models is already too many. We hope you’ll understand that our efforts to grow the brand are motivated not only by the sustainability of the products but by our mission to inspire creative expression in as many people as possible.
Over the years, Blackwing pencils have varied in terms of hardness, color and even manufacturer. But pencils that bear the Blackwing name have always been and will always be of the utmost quality and made from premium materials. We appreciate all of the support and hope you’ll continue to help us celebrate the legacy of this great brand as it moves into the future!
